API preamp:

inputs 3,4

In 1968, API Founder Saul Walker created the first API 2520 discrete preamp circuit and since then it has continued to be an integral part of modern day recording. The API circuit uses voltage amplification as well as output transformers (which can be pushed) to create it's distinctive sound. Where a Neve 1073 is more weighted in the mids and lows - I find that API preamps are focussed and tight across the spectrum. API is my go to when I want minimal coloration and full tone. It works fantastic as a D.I. on synthesizers and keyboards as well. Back to equipment page here.

API 560 EQ

inputs 3,4

The API 560 EQ delivers track-sculpting capabilities, precision filtering, and high headroom. I love this EQ for shaping guitar tones, drums and really anything that needs a finely tuned boost or cut.

1176 "Blue Stripe" Compressor

inputs 3,4

I pair the API channels at the studio with the classic leveling and character of an 1176 compressor. Because this compressor can add weight in the mids and also offers some more "aggressive" tone shaping, I find this chain very useful for many different applications such as the inside kick drum mic, bottom snare, guitars and bass.
