The Melcor circuit is the predecessor of API's famous 2520 op amp. It can be described as smooth, punchy and darker in characteristic than it's successor. I purchased Black Lion Audio's take on this circuit which is paired with a pultec style EQ. I find it is great on Hi Hats to get a crisp focussed dark sound. I've also used it on our Rhodes piano and on bass where it is equally great. It's a versatile color choice.  Back to equipment page here.
