Perhaps the most legendary of all compressors in the world is the Teletronix LA-2A.  The warm and full sound created by the LA-2A adds depth to any signal run through them. LA-2A compressors use a light emitting diode (optical compression) to adjust voltage creating it's hallmark smooth sound signature.
